What is the True Message of the Lubavitcher Rebbe Regarding War?
The nation dwelling in Zion is currently getting assaulted by a hostile enemy. We now understand that we cannot accept the state-sponsored narrative, so we do not know who is barraging us with missiles, but the perilous reality is that someone is waging war against us.
May it be G-d’s will that very soon salvation will be ours, and the predatory enemy/ies will be toppled.
I happened to visit websites that use the name of “Chabad” (COL, and Chabad.info) and was shocked to see their objectionable content.
The members of tzahal are embattled in the most dangerous of places and civilians are hunkering in shelters. Surely they're hoping that we are praying and learning Torah in their merit. However, these websites show a different story entirely. Instead of featuring the study halls of our Chabad yeshivas in the Holy Land where students are deeply immersed in Torah study (many even without proper bomb shelters), continuing to learn Torah with increased strength and vigor despite being awake all night because of sirens, these websites chose to highlight something else: they’re posting pictures of anyone in Chabad wearing army uniforms. It looks so childish, like a costume contest.
Just out of curiosity, I checked the websites of the Religious Zionist community (like B’Sheva, Kippa, etc.) to see if they are also showcasing various individuals who enlisted in this war. I didn’t find any such pictures. Are we worse than the Religious Zionists?
The truth is, there’s a deliberate hand behind those sites (undoubtedly because of the large sums of money they receive from the army in order to promote the enlistment of Chabad yeshiva students).
Those clowns in uniforms in Chabad usually wear “Yechi” yarmulkes—not because they actually believe the Rebbe is alive (if they truly believed in the Rebbe, they would never dare to be photographed in uniform and share it with Anash [the Chabad community])—but because they belong to a specific political party that uses the “Yechi” yarmulke as one of its symbols. Among the Chabad public, they are seen as those who cherish the Rebbe's words and hold his teachings in highest regard.
So for their sake, I went to look up what the Rebbe actually told his followers during times of war:
• Sinai War [Operation Kadesh] (1956) – The Rebbe said to use the national awakening to spread Judaism.
• Six-Day War (1967) – The Rebbe launched the tefillin campaign.
• War of Attrition (1969–1970) – The Rebbe said Jews died because non-Jewish soldiers had been registered as Jews.
• Yom Kippur War (1973) – The Rebbe asked to ensure Jewish children receive Torah education (increase Torah study).
• Lebanon War (1982) – The Rebbe requested that the Tanya be printed in Lebanon.
• Gulf War (1991) – The Rebbe urged strengthening the people’s faith and trust in G-d, with joy.
In short, in none of Israel’s wars did the Rebbe instruct his adherents to enlist in the army. Others can do that—but only Chabad chassidim can carry out the Rebbe’s campaigns.
So instead of strengthening Anash in increasing Torah study and in the Ten Mitzvah Campaigns to protect the people of Israel and their security forces, these websites decided to exploit the situation as part of an ongoing campaign to recruit Anash into the army—in direct opposition to the Rebbe’s opinion.
COL and Chabad.info—shame on you!
