On Chanukah 2,160 years ago, the weak miraculously prevailed over the mighty, the righteous over the wicked, the pure over the impure, and few over the many.
“Few over the many” means that the inviolable rights of the individual prevailed over the supposed benefit of the many.
Chanukah celebrates the rededication of the Sanctuary after it had been desecrated with secularist agenda that claimed to serve public interest.
Chanukah means “dedication” and also “education” (חינוך).
The sacred lights of Chanukah remind us that religious freedoms — and every child’s right to a pure and uncompromised Torah education — are sacrosanct and inviolable.
