Dear Friend,
If you're interested in off-grid farming, please join us for a unique upcoming course being offered for the first time ever in the US:
Learn how to operate a kassine to perform all your off-grid farming tasks.
Dates: Sat., June 29th*, Mon. July 1st through Wed., July 3rd
Times: 9am - 5pm
Location: Annville, KY (in an Amish community)
Instructor: Jerome Keller of Prommata
Cost: $400 per participant**

* This course is being organized specifically with the Amish and Jewish communities in mind. Due to the tight schedule, Mr. Keller, who is coming from France specially for this purpose, will deliver the first class of the course on Shabbat (Saturday) for the Amish participants, but GLG Farm will provide a make-up class for Jewish participants, so that they won't be missing anything.

Frequently asked questions:
What is a kassine?
A kassine is a tool invented and developed in 1991 by Jean Nolle, a French farmer from the Pyrenees mountains, who had traveled the world for forty years to help poor communities build equipment for farming with oxen and donkeys.
Kassine is a multi tool for produce, performing tasks such as cultivating, building ridges and rows, digging, etc. Annual plowing is no longer necessary. Instead, the earth is maintained with the kassine. The kassine works only on the surface.
The kassine enables a person who is not used to farming with animals at all, let alone with two draft horses and heavy equipment, etc., to farm with just one animal, even a donkey, and with minimal tools
The kassine fills the place of 4 or 5 heavy tools (plow, disc, spring harrow, flex harrow).
To do traditional farming with horses, one would need to invest $20,000-25,000 minimum (at least $12,000 for two trained horses, $3,000 for harnesses, and at least $5,000-$10,000 for used tools). In contrast, a kassine currently costs between 4,000 Euros (about $4,500 US dollars) plus shipping and can be used with one horse.
For around $10,000, you can buy a horse and kassine and start farming up to two acres, growing bountiful produce to sustain at least sixty people or more. The kassine has been used to successfully grow food to feed entire villages worldwide.
GLG Farm of Annville, KY, is planning to manufacture kassines here in the US for the very first time in the near future. The goal is to make kassines much more affordable for course participants and local farmers.
Annville KY is too far away for me. Where else can I learn about kassines?
Mr. Keller from Prommata is also demonstrating the kassine at a yearly event called "Horse Progress Days" in Gordonville, PA, for the Amish community there on July 5th and 6th. This will just be a demonstration. In contrast, our Annville KY event will be an instructive course for beginners including demonstrations as well.

At this time, we are not offering lodging. However, participants are welcome to stay in tents or RVs of their own in Annville KY or at the Green Family Farm nearby. There are no hotels in Annville, but there are a few in nearby towns. There are also Airbnb options in the area.
I'm busy and can't make it. Is this course available online? Will there be a make-up course?
